Keypeople

At Woodlands our focus is aimed at enabling close attachments between each child and nursery staff and so we have adopted the Key Person approach.
This approach supports Bowlby’s attachment theory that children having an adult who is special to them is central to the child’s well-being (EYFS, 2012).
The key person provides a single person that has a comprehensive knowledge of the child’s likes/dislikes, comforts, routines and who works in partnership with parents.
OFSTED recently commented that our children have secure attachments with their key person building on their confidence and self esteem.
They said
‘the key worker system works highly effectively to help children flourish and feel extremely secure […] it is exceptionally well embedded and has a significant impact on children’s development.’
