Equipment at Also
At Woodlands Also we strive to combine our Eco-friendly approach with our Nursery ethos to ensure our children are challenged and to encourage the use of imagination and exploration. Working alongside our play coordinator, we find uses for lots of recycled and upcycled resources, providing unique learning environments for our children to enjoy.
Our key people follow the children’s lead, supporting them in their desires to learn through play. Our exciting resources and play spaces such as our fairy garden, pirate ship and purpose built mud kitchen, enable our children to bring their imaginations to life on an even bigger scale.
Our new designated 2-3’s play space provides a much needed calmer and cosier environment for our younger children to enjoy, enabling them to experience all the same fun, messy and exciting activities as our pre-schoolers, in their own space.

Also Play Zone
As a sister setting to the main Woodlands, when refurbishing the site of Woodlands Also back in 2017, we built in our very own Play Zone, in a brand new, purpose built building. With both heating and air conditioning our Play Zone is enjoyable no matter the temperature outdoors. Not only boasting plenty of space for the children to run off excess energy and development of gross motor skills, our Play Zone also offers a soft play cave, an area which allows for quieter, sensory activities.
The Play Zone includes climbing equipment, slides and a ball pit as well as large problem solving games and puzzles on the walls.

Garden at Also
At Woodlands Also we have an extensive outdoor space for children of all ages and developmental stages to explore and enjoy nature. With our Guinea pigs and bug hotel the children have opportunities to learn about and care for living things as part of their day to day play.
The children have plenty of space to run and ride around, letting off steam and burning all of that extra energy! We also have a multitude of smaller spaces for the children to discover and experiment with lots of natural materials including sand, water, mud and flowers. With our team of practitioners of hand to extend the learning which comes with the natural curiosity of being outside, incorporating the 7 areas of learning both inside and out!
With free access to our garden across the building the children are able to enjoy the outdoors no matter the weather, with our Fairy Garden doubling up as a cosy space and sleep area in those warmer months of the Great British Summer.

Darek’s Den
Woodlands Also is home to our very own outdoor classroom, ‘Darek’s Den’ allowing children to experience the outdoors like never before. The children are given the opportunity help Darek in building the fire to fuel the session, they will learn about the way fires can help to keep us warm, cook their food and even how it leaves behind charcoal to be creative with.
Each session is carefully planned for and run by Darek our maintenance manager alongside the key people within the team. Incorporating all areas of learning the children are given plentiful opportunities to explore nature in ways they never have before!
